Is your passion really going to make you money?

I know, after almost drowning you with videos on how your passion will make you money, I come out and question myself? Just a moment now, before you flip me off and leave, let me explain myself.
I have no doubt that your passion will make you money. However blind passion with just 'you + your passion' in mind will not get you too far. The thing about being successful is that it requires a certain amount of 'giving back to the world' for it to work (Check out my interview with Melissa Greczy to see what she has to say about this). Let me explain...
Your undying passion is brilliant and I'm sure everyone around you is going to get inspired by the power of your passion but if your passion is collecting bottle caps (I'm just saying!) and you expect to make money off it, then... well.. you are going to fail. There. I said it.
But wait! There's more. The point I'm trying to make here is that while we might get a thrill out of your passion, that doesn't mean we want to part with our money just to fuel your passion. We want to know, "what's in it for us?". This is a hard lesson to come to terms with, but the sooner you do, the faster you're going to be successful. I came across a brilliant article that explains this in depth! Read on...

Solve a pain or follow your passion
by Jun Loayza
During my young days as an entrepreneur, I was taught to find a pain in my life and solve it.
Nowadays all I hear is “Make money following your passion!” or “Turn your passion into a business!” I mean EVERYONE is telling you to do this, not just the big dogs.
Last week, Seth Godin advised the following:
“If you’re really into high-end stereos and you want to be an entrepreneur, I don’t think you should go into the stereo business because it’ll wreck your hobby for you”
So which one is it?
Should an entrepreneur solve a pain or follow his or her passion?

So in other words, find a passion that solves problems or find a passion that is useful to others...and then money rolls in?
Hi Jes, thanks for visiting!
It's not so much find a passion that solves problems and the money comes rolling in, rather if your passion helps other people solve their pain, then people are more willing to part with their money. However this is only a piece of the puzzle, albeit a bit piece of the puzzle! :)
